Overview: TS1 Drop Sensor

  • Innovative Fiber Optic Holder: Precise detection of dispensed media for seamless process control.
  • Economical I/O Monitoring: Cost-efficient verification of the dispensing process via standard interfaces.
  • Self-Sustaining Sensor Cleaning: Automated cleaning of the sensor optics minimizes maintenance intervals and manual support ("No Babysitting").
  • High-Precision Quick-Connect System: Tool-free exchange with maximum positional repeatability.
  • Minimized Interference Contour: Ultra-compact design allows detection within a minimal gap (starting at 1.5 mm) between the nozzle and the substrate.
  • High Dynamic Range: Compatible with standard commercial fiber optic sensors; reliable detection of individual drops at dispensing frequencies up to 300 Hz.

Functional Principle and Integration

Real-Time Process Control:

Detection occurs immediately within a response time of 3 ms after the dispensing pulse. In contrast to conventional downstream optical inspection methods, the TS1 enables in-process correction of the dispensing result during the active work step.

Handling and Assembly:

The sensor holder is designed for ergonomic one-handed operation (clip-on system at the nozzle area). Rotational alignment is continuously adjustable, utilizing a defined elastomer friction to ensure stable, vibration-resistant locking of the selected position.

Maintenance-Free Operation:

During non-contact dispensing of viscous media, process-related aerosol residues can accumulate on the fiber optic ends. The TS1 features an integrated pneumatic cleaning unit that autonomously removes contamination via compressed air pulses. This ensures consistent signal quality without the need for operator intervention.
